This video demonstrates how iodine behaves when it dissolves in two solvents which do not mix. Iodine dissolves readily in potassium iodide. Solutions of iodine in cyclohexane and potassium iodide are coloured so qualitative conclusions about the concentration of iodine in each layer can be made from the appearance of the colours of the two layer.
